Last night as I was taking my nightly bike ride through the neighborhood, I was pondering the meaning of my experience in that moment. I felt joy and satisfaction as the cool breeze was blowing on my face and as I began to accelerate quicker I felt a freedom like no other. It was in that exact moment that I had a peaceful feeling of “knowing”. This knowing was the knowledge that I was in the perfect place at the perfect time doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing; experiencing pure bliss in the divine eternal without any fear or worry. Everything was clear and there was no doubt or obstruction of goodness in my mind. It was truly like a light had been lit inside my soul. The light was conveying that I am one with everything. There was no separation between me and the breeze or the cats I was passing by or even the sky above. This was truly the enlightenment of GOD in the here and now.
I often hear people talk about the many characteristics of the creator. Some would describe him as just and loving while others may describe the divine as spirit and truth. As, I am a firm believer in all these wonderful qualities of GOD, I cannot help but think there has to be en-light-enment to first come to the knowing of these aspects of the divine spirit. Without the light to show us the way we would be lost and confused. In other words: in complete darkness. If we take a look at scripture we will see that Jesus states: I am the light of the world (John 8:12). What did he mean by this? I believe he meant that he was the true path to GOD. Not in the appearance of material matter but rather in truth and in deed. As we study the heart and mind of the Christ we will begin to see an unselfish love and caring for the world. As we begin to live from this heart and mind we too will become as light for others in darkness. They will begin to observe the Christ Spirit and see that there is another way to live beside the worldly standard of today. They will truly begin to know the love and presence of GOD by your thoughts and deeds.
How many of us can say that we are living free from darkness? It appears to be all around us but one person with en-light-enment can lift an entire city up. We were made to be seen, not hidden according to the scripture (Mark 4: 21-23). To be an example to those who are walking in darkness according to their fleshly desires. I want to encourage everyone today to plug into something new and refreshing! Begin to tune out the normal ways of being and tune into the supernatural power inside yourself. With enough patience and diligent seeking you will find that the light of GOD has been inside of you this whole time waiting to be shown to the world around you. Be of good cheer and let your light shine!
